Russian indus ministry expects car sales to remain flat in 2017

MOSCOW, Jan 13 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Industry and Trade Ministry expects sales of new cars to remain flat on the year in 2017, while production of cars may even grow, Minister Denis Manturov told reporters Friday.

“We assume there will be a trend for restoration. The figures (of car sales) should at least not be worse than last year. Production may show a slight increase,” he said.

On Thursday, the Association of European Businesses (AEB) said that sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) in the country dropped 11% on the year to 1.42 million vehicles in 2016. The AEB expects sales to rise 4% to 1.48 million units in 2017.
